You can close your B9 Checking Account in the B9 app. Here's how:
Step 1: Make sure your account is at least 5 days old
You can only close your account after 5 days from when it was opened. This ensures everything is properly set up and that all initial transactions are processed. Once 5 days have passed, the Close Account button will appear in your profile, allowing you to proceed with the closure process.
Step 2: Go to Profile > Close Account
In the app, open your profile and tap Close Account. Follow the steps shown and make sure you've completed any necessary requirements.
Step 3: Remove all your funds
Ensure your balance is $0 (or below $5) before closing. Use ACH for a no-fee transfer (usually takes 1–3 business days). If you use external wallets, be aware of possible fees.
Step 4: Wait for pending transactions to settle
Any pending payments must be fully processed before closing. Once they settle, your account balance will reflect the correct available funds, allowing you to proceed with the closure process.
Step 5: Cancel direct deposit
Stop all future payroll deposits by contacting your employer or payroll provider. Deposits sent to a closed account will be returned in 3–5 business days.
Step 6: Finalize account closure
Once everything is done, tap Close Account to schedule the closure. The account will close in 30 days if no new activity occurs. If a deposit is received during this time, the closure will be canceled. You can also contact support to reverse the closure if needed.
What if I have money in my account when I close it?
Please transfer all funds to an external bank account before closing. Accounts with balances of $5 or less can still be closed.
What if I have a negative balance when I close it?
You’ll need to clear any negative balance before your B9 account can be closed.
