B9 members can receive qualifying direct deposits up to two days before their scheduled payday. Whether it’s your paycheck, Social Security benefits, or other recurring payments, we’ll make your money available as soon as we receive the deposit from your employer or benefits provider.
When will I get paid?
As soon as we receive your direct deposit file, we post it to your account — no holds. While most members receive deposits up to 2 days early, this depends on when your employer or provider sends the payment file. Early access isn’t guaranteed but happens frequently.
Do I get early access to Social Security and SSI benefits?
Yes! If you’ve set up direct deposit for Social Security, SSI, VA, or similar benefits, you may receive them up to 2 days early — depending on when we receive the file from the government.
Here’s how the standard government payment schedule works:
- SSI: Paid on the 1st of each month
- SSA (if started before May 1997 or if you receive both SSA and SSI): Paid on the 3rd
- Other SSA payments: Based on your birth date
💡 You can get paid up to two days early — but it’s not guaranteed. These dates are based on government schedules. SSI, VA, and SSDI payments are scheduled by the government, so we can't control when these deposits arrive. View the official Schedule of Social Security Benefit Payments
Weekends and Holidays
Good news: If a scheduled payment date falls on a weekend or federal holiday, benefits are often deposited early.
First-time setting up direct deposit?
It may take up to two pay cycles for your employer or provider to update your payment method. To avoid delays:
- Double-check your B9 routing and account numbers
- Make sure the name on file matches exactly
- Update your employer or provider before your next payroll cutoff
Once your direct deposit is fully switched to B9, early access should begin automatically.
How Does Direct Deposit Work?
- Before payday, your employer sends a payroll file to their bank with payment details.
- The ACH (Automated Clearing House) reviews and routes the file.
- The ACH sends it to one of B9’s banking partners.
- Once received, we immediately post your deposit to your account.
Why don’t I see a pending deposit?
B9 does not display pending deposits. Once we receive a payment file, we post the funds right away.
If your deposit isn’t visible, we haven’t received it yet.
How will I know when my money arrives?
You’ll receive a push notification and/or email as soon as your deposit hits — make sure notifications are enabled in your app settings.
What can delay my deposit?
Delays can happen — especially with SSA, SSI, or VA payments. On rare occasions, deposits are delayed due to government processing or bank clearing times.
Several factors may delay your payment:
- Bank holidays
- Employer payroll processing delays
- Incorrect account/routing info
- First-time direct deposit setup
B9 can’t control the timing of your payer’s processing. If your deposit hasn’t arrived by the scheduled date:
- Wait until the end of the day on your expected deposit date.
- Then, contact your employer or provider to confirm the payment was sent.
- Ensure your B9 account and routing numbers are correct
- If needed, email us to support@bnine.com with a trace number to investigate.
Why was my direct deposit returned?
A direct deposit may be rejected and returned if:
- The name on the deposit doesn’t match your B9 account name
- Your B9 account is closed or restricted
- The deposit is from a business or organization, not your payroll or benefits provider
- Your account or routing number was entered incorrectly
Returned funds are typically sent back to the payer within 3 business days. You’ll need to contact your payer to resend it.
